Hi, I’m Tyler Hedinger, and I built Among Us in real life.

Not a cosplay. Not a birthday party version. I’m talking full-blown, electronic, interactive chaos — with 19 Arduinos, over 5,672 lines of code, and a shed that has enough wire to make it to the moon and back (Over 1000 feet).

Since 2020, I’ve been designing a real-world version of the hit game Among Us — complete with working tasks, emergency meetings, saboteur mechanics, flashing lights, audio, and an unhealthy amount of wiring. It’s part game / part “I might’ve taken this too far.”

The goal? Simple:
Let people run around doing actual tasks, yelling at each other during meetings, and accusing their closest friends of murder — just like the video game, but sweatier.

I built everything from scratch. If a task lights up or spontaneously explodes into a million pieces, it’s because I made it that way. And yes, the card swipe is intentionally difficult. You’re welcome.

This started as a fun idea and spiraled into a full-on engineering rabbit hole. Now it’s a physical, playable experience that’s been tested (and screamed in) by real people — and it’s still growing.
